Dr. Cabrera is an Associate Professor, Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. He has studied and conducted birth defect research for more than 15 years. He has served as Project Manager for Stem Cell Research at Dell Children’s Medical Center and Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin. He uses multidisciplinary approaches that include genetic engineering, functional genomics, live-cell imaging, high-content and high-throughput screening, animal models, nutritional science, and epidemiology to understand the etiologies of birth defects. His research is focused on cell-based analyses of early embryonic development, reproductive and developmental toxicity, and nutritional prevention of birth defects.
